Falta is a major industrial hub in South 24 Parganas district of West Bengal. Falta Industrial Growth Centre was established in 1989. It is classified into two phases which are located adjacent to each other: Falta Phase - I : comprise of Sector-III & Sector-IV Falta Phase - II : comprises of Sector V Since the Growth Centre is in close proximity to the state capital, it has a special advantage.

Road connectivity:

The Growth Centre is connected by a two lane National Highway No. 117.

Railway connectivity:

The nearest railway station to Falta is Diamond Harbour Railway Station which is about 19 kms from the Growth Centre.

Port connectivity:

Kolkata and Haldia are the closest sea port from the Growth Centre at a distance of about 46 kms and 48 km respectively.

Airport connectivity:

The nearest airport is the Kolkata Airport, located at a distance of 65 kms from Falta.

Physical features

The Growth Centre is providing lease holding to various industrial units and institutions for setting up their plants with Building Plan approved by the WBIIDC itself. All the operational units have good infrastructure. Many of them have landscaped frontage and also canteens for the employees.

Falta Industrial Growth Centre is located on Hooghly river front. Due to close proximity to the sea, the river water is saline. WBIIDC has made requisite arrangements to ensure industrial and domestic water supply to the Growth Centres by pumping out ground water from deep tubewell through network of pipelines and overhead reservoir system.

WBIIDC has also taken initiatives for solar powered LED street light installation towards utilization of renewable energy and reduction of carbon footprint.

Drainage and Sewerage

Drainage of treated industrial and storm sewer is facilitated through network of surface drains.
